As the publisher is established in France, this site is subject to Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (GDPR) and to the French Data Protection Act. The supervisory authority is the CNIL.
What we collect
Reading ThreadEducation does not require an account, and we do not ask you to identify yourself to read an article.
Server logs. Our host records technical connection data — IP address, date and time, pages requested, browser and operating system. This is standard hosting operation, required for security and for diagnosing faults.
Messages you send us. If you write to us, we hold your email address and the content of your message for as long as needed to handle it and to keep a record of any correction it led to.
Measurement and advertising. Where audience measurement or advertising is active, it may set cookies and collect browsing data. What is actually in use, and how to refuse it, is described on the cookie policy page.
Why, and on what legal basis
- Operating and securing the site — legitimate interest. Without server logs we cannot detect abuse or diagnose failures.
- Answering your messages — legitimate interest, and the performance of your request.
- Audience measurement and advertising — your consent, collected before any non-essential cookie is set, and withdrawable at any time.
How long we keep it
- Server logs: retained by our host for the period required for security, then deleted.
- Messages: kept for the time needed to handle them, and archived where they relate to a published correction.
- Cookies: see the cookie policy for the lifetime of each.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for others to market to you.
Data is processed by our host, OVH SAS, acting as a processor on our instructions. Where measurement or advertising services are active, those providers act as described on the cookie policy page. Some of them may transfer data outside the European Union; where that happens, it relies on the safeguards provided for by the GDPR, such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you may request access to your data, correction of inaccurate data, erasure, restriction of processing, portability, and you may object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting what was done before.
Write to contact@threadeducation.com. We answer within one month. We may ask you for information to confirm your identity where a request concerns data we cannot otherwise link to you.
If you consider that your rights have not been respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL — cnil.fr.
Children
This site is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
